July 2014

In the first week of media, we was given work to set us up for A2. We were handed an essay to analyse a music video of our choice. This gave us the opportunity to find a music video and to give us inspiration for our own music video. Also, this gave me experience on how to analyse music videos. We had to apply our knowledge of analysing media videos, from our AS coursework of film openings. We used the same structure and technique to analyse the video. This has helped me to understand the conventions of music videos so that when it comes to making our own video.

We were also given our preliminary task, to recreate Britany's video, Hit Me Baby One More Time. We had to follow the video, shot by shot. This helped us as we have now got the experience to make a music video. Although, this was a valuable task as it showed how hard it was to recreate a video, and also shows us that it will be much harder when creating our own video from scratch. We also had to edit the video in time to the music, this also showed us how hard it is to match the songs up to the music.
